Balancing respect |
There are many blessings of which a man remains lover since birth . Among all blessings, respect is the most valuable and unsubstituted one. Perhaps a man can survive under all deprivations except respect.
I think respect is the only blessing which has the connection with the Hub of your body. The maintenance of hub is necessary for the function of whole body. Providing all the essential blessings is the maintenance of hub and respect is their Master. It means it becomes most important to understand what Respect mean? How it can be achieved?
"Respect is what captures the attention of others".
نُمَتِّعُهُمْ قَلِيلًا ثُمَّ نَضْطَرُّهُمْ إِلٰى عَذَابٍ غَلِيظٍ
"We grant them enjoyment for a little; then We will force them to a massive punishment."
( Luqman 31: Verse 24).
But remember you should never seek respect in sight of people than Allah because people change their attitudes (they may not do good always even knowing). But what Allah has said is perfect and unchangeable (because right can never become wrong). This lesson has Quranic proof that we should not take care of the sight of people .
We must be so careful in our vision. We give respect to those who have social influence but it is not necessary that honourable people have always influence in their societies. As if we look to the followers of Noah (a.s) , they were mostly of lower class (in wealth) and they were mocked by disbelievers by saying "we see your (Noah) followers abjects". Because of such wrong perception, they remained the inhabitants of Hell fire
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala said:
وَمَآ أَسْئَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلٰى رَبِّ الْعٰلَمِينَ
"And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds."
(Ash-Shu'araa 26: Verse 145).
It was Prophet Hud (a.s) saying to his people that My invitation to you toward righteous path is not to glorify Myself but to show you right path. It's clear that there is no need of respect in people's sight than Allah.
So it is necessary to win the hearts of people for respect. It can't be achieved by physical means. You don't have to work according to people's hearts but according to the teachings of Almighty Allah. You have to make them believe on it with their hearts (but you are not there supervisor حوالہ دار ).
Heart is enough muscular that can be broken by tongue
We have told at the beginning that everyone wants to be respected. And it is certain that whatever anyone has ,will try to be respected and honoured. Anyone with physical means will try to play and act to gain respect. And also ,as previously said, that hearts of people can't be moulded by physical means. And if you play your physical force, you will just gain blood.
Now there is a matter of wealth, job etc. We play a giant mistake with these things. We think wealth and job will make us renowned and happier.
Wealth and jobs will not make you respectful. As wealth and jobs themselves win the hearts of people and not you (people respect them and not you till you take from them this essence). It is wealth and jobs which is loved by people and not you.
Because these are the blessings and people love them but there is no value and importance of your's for them.
These are the blessings , someone has given and some not
There can never be achieved the balance of wealth and jobs in the society.
If you couldn't get education because of deprivation of money, can you tolerate to be dishonoured because of such deprivation? If not then how others can?
In the hadith narrated by Muslim (817) from ‘Aamir ibn Waathilah, it says that Naafi‘ ibn ‘Abd al-Haarith met ‘Umar in ‘Usfaan, and ‘Umar had appointed him as governor of Makkah. He said: Whom did you appoint over the people of the valley? He said: Ibn Abza. He said: Who is Ibn Abza? He said: One of our freed slaves. He said: You have appointed a freed slave over them?! He said: He is well versed in the Book of Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, and he has knowledge of the shares of inheritance that are prescribed in Islam. ‘Umar said: Your Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Allah raises some in status by means of this Book and He lowers others by means of it.” IslamQA
We all believe the existence of individual difference. It clears that we all can't fit in one thing. As community itself declares the existence of diversity. Then how can we deny that!
