Balancing society by respecting each other

respect in an islamic society
Balancing respect

Introduction

I have written this post by observing the problems it has created in our society. People are not out of money and meals always without job and social status but surely it creates polarization and that polarization creates multiple unexpected and dangerous consequences. I have specifically written this for youths who are responsible in the dynamic society to balance it and serve it wherever possible. I believe respecting and honouring to each and everyone is necessary to function our society smoothly. I ,not making hypothesis, will prove it to you through our truthful religion as well as beneficial for us in various ways as well

Discourse

There are many blessings of which a man remains lover since birth . Among all blessings, respect is the most valuable and unsubstituted one. Perhaps a man can survive under all deprivations except respect.

I think respect is the only blessing which has the connection with the Hub of your body. The maintenance of hub is necessary for the function of whole body. Providing all the essential blessings is the maintenance of hub and respect is their Master. It means it becomes most important to understand what Respect mean? How it can be achieved?

"Respect is what captures the attention of others".

نُمَتِّعُهُمْ قَلِيلًا ثُمَّ نَضْطَرُّهُمْ إِلٰى عَذَابٍ غَلِيظٍ

"We grant them enjoyment for a little; then We will force them to a massive punishment."

( Luqman 31: Verse 24).

But remember you should never seek respect in sight of people than Allah because people change their attitudes (they may not do good always even knowing). But what Allah has said is perfect and unchangeable (because right can never become wrong). This lesson has Quranic proof that we should not take care of the sight of people .

We must be so careful in our vision. We give respect to those who have social influence but it is not necessary that honourable people have always influence in their societies. As if we look to the followers of Noah (a.s) , they were mostly of lower class (in wealth) and they were mocked by disbelievers by saying "we see your (Noah) followers abjects". Because of such wrong perception, they remained the inhabitants of Hell fire

Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala said:

وَمَآ أَسْئَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ  ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلٰى رَبِّ الْعٰلَمِينَ

"And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds."

(Ash-Shu'araa 26: Verse 145).

It was Prophet Hud (a.s)  saying to his people that My invitation to you toward righteous path is not to glorify Myself but to show you right path. It's clear that there is no need of respect in people's sight than Allah.

So it is necessary to win the hearts of people for respect. It can't be achieved by physical means. You don't have to work according to people's hearts but according to the teachings of Almighty Allah. You have to make them believe on it with their hearts (but you are not there supervisor حوالہ دار ).

Heart is enough muscular that can be broken by tongue

We have told at the beginning that everyone wants to be respected. And it is certain that whatever anyone has ,will try to be respected and honoured. Anyone with physical means will try to play and act to gain respect. And also ,as previously said, that hearts of people can't be moulded by physical means. And if you play your physical force, you will just gain blood

Now there is a matter of wealth, job etc. We play a giant mistake with these things. We think wealth and job will make us renowned and happier.

Wealth and jobs will not make you respectful. As wealth and jobs themselves win the hearts of people and not you (people respect them and not you till you take from them this essence). It is wealth and jobs which is loved by people and not you.

Because these are the blessings and people love them but there is no value and importance of your's for them.
These are the blessings , someone has given and some not
A man has only one thing of his own and that is soul. Everyone has been blessed with soul but everyone couldn't be blessed with money and material things (there can't be equity in these materialist things because it's creating the environment of examination). And it is necessary to play and act your soul in such a manner that you win the hearts of others because it is only blessing which is your and if people start loving it , that means they are loving you.

There can never be achieved the balance of wealth and jobs in the society.

Some have paternal money and some have not . Do you think a wealthy should still be honoured?
If you couldn't get education because of deprivation of money, can you tolerate to be dishonoured because of such deprivation? If not then how others can?
Do you think Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) (who hadn't got this  education) has or had no respect?

worldly life is just an amusement
Then think that you have respect on the basis of virtues you do  and you give respect on same basis. As we don't know who one is more pious and who is less? So you need to deem others high esteemed than yourself.

Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala said:

"Whoever desires honor [through power] - then to Allah belongs all honor. To Him ascends good speech, and righteous work raises it. But they who plot evil deeds will have a severe punishment, and the plotting of those - it will perish."
(Al-Faatir 35: Verse 10)

 Here is a good hint for us . The verse is talking about the salvation of respect. The verse is giving two basic points for achieving respect and they are ;
1 . We need to spread good words around ourselves. Because most of the sins are committed by our tongue .
2. Good conduct ,we need to be good in every manner at every place whether at home or at office. We need to be sincere individually.

In the hadith narrated by Muslim (817) from ‘Aamir ibn Waathilah, it says that Naafi‘ ibn ‘Abd al-Haarith met ‘Umar in ‘Usfaan, and ‘Umar had appointed him as governor of Makkah. He said: Whom did you appoint over the people of the valley? He said: Ibn Abza. He said: Who is Ibn Abza? He said: One of our freed slaves. He said: You have appointed a freed slave over them?! He said: He is well versed in the Book of Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, and he has knowledge of the shares of inheritance that are prescribed in Islam. ‘Umar said: Your Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Allah raises some in status by means of this Book and He lowers others by means of it.” IslamQA
In chapter Nahl-v90 Almighty Allah says that there is no difference between men and women in sight of Allah but there is difference on the basis of virtues.

We all believe the existence of individual difference. It clears that we all can't fit in one thing. As community itself declares the existence of diversity. Then how can we deny that!

So we need to give respect on the basis of their good conduct and not on the basis of achievements of this world.
When we give honour on worldly adornments, next one increases it's value due to which craze  is developed among people for it's achievement.
As we know we have been forbidden from the craze of these worldly pleasures in 04:32.
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala said:

"And do not wish for that by which Allah has made some of you exceed others. For men is a share of what they have earned, and for women is a share of what they have earned. And ask Allah of his bounty. Indeed Allah is ever, of all things, Knowing."
( An-Nisaa 4: Verse 32).

So in conclusion, we learnt that we have to respect each and everyone to balance the society. We have to respect Doctors as well as cookers as both are need by the society equally. We have to prioritise good conduct over all physical havings.
